The house is in a beautiful location situated on 1 hectare of land with olive trees and a cherry orchard. The house is well set back from the road and situated down a long driveway, so it's very quiet and peaceful. There are a couple of huge trees in front of the house with the pool and cherry orchard beyond. At the back of the house there are vineyards and fields with views of the village of Bedoin and Mont Ventoux. There is a private pool and pool house, complete with dining table, built-in barbeque and sink, and half-bath, and there are plenty of comfortable lounge chairs around the pool (12mx5m).
The caretaker lives next door and is charming and available for assistance if required. The owners have a private suite on the top floor with completely separate access at the back of the house. On occassion, the owners may be in residence for a short period of time, generally in early spring or late fall. Please inquire about dates.
The garden is spectacular, particularly in May and June when the roses climb up the front of the house, and the iris bordering the walkway to the pool are in bloom. As a real bonus, the cherries in the orchard are ripe for picking. |

We had an outstanding trip to France. Villa Caromb was very nice and we enjoyed touring the very pretty region. The itinerary that you provided was very helpful, and we really appreciated the details and your advice. Thank you for making our trip a delight ! M. Russell. Sante Fe, NM. Oct 08.
We had a great trip! Villa Caromb was absolutely wonderful. Everything was perfect including the house, the weather, the attractions of Provence and the company. We really enjoyed dining outside on the terrace every night. Everything worked out beautifully. D. Scott. Vancouver. Sep/07.
We loved this house. We took so many photos of the view from the back of the house; we could not believe how beautiful it was. Everything was perfect, from the kind caretakers of the house and their cute cat, who always visited when I hung up the laundry, to the well-stocked kitchen, where my husband cooked up some great meals which we enjoyed under the lovely tree in the front yard. We would love to return to the house and appreciate all of your help along the way in our preparations. Thanks so much. A. Prichard. June 2006.
The house is a 19th century restored mas in superb shape. The house is a delight, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. We've rented houses in a lot of different places in Europe, especially France and Italy, and this is without question the nicest house we've ever rented. It is a perfect combination of being beautifully decorated and "homey" without being cluttered with the owners' possessions. I think the real surprise was the size of the house and how spacious it felt, plus of course the quality of the furnishings and accessories. There were six of us (3 couples), and there was lots of room to spread out.
Kerry, the owner of France Bound, is great to work with, providing lots of info before we left and promptly returning our full deposit. I might add that France Bound's rental prices are very reasonable in comparison to other rental agencies. The reality of Maison Caromb is even better than the pictures on the web site. I would go back tomorrow, and recommend the house without qualification to anyone -- even people who are more accustomed to good hotels than vacation rentals. I think May is the perfect month to go. Our favorite restaurant in Caromb was Le Four ?† Chaux. A. Misura. Hawaii. May 2004. |
