Our trip went well and we enjoyed our stay at Mons?©gur¬†The house was just as we expected it to b,e and it was great to be able to fix our own food and do our laundry.¬†Finding dinner on the Sunday we arrived was a bit of a challenge because, in addition to the regular Sunday closings, several restaurants in the area were closed for annual vacations or for an 'exceptional' long week-end since the previous Thursday had been a holiday.¬†We bought sandwiches at the Cafe du Commerce in case that's all we'd have, but eventually found a restaurant in nearby Duras that opened in the evening. We met the managers when they came to check that we'd arrived and that things were ok.¬†We enjoyed all the local amenities mentioned in your literature, and we also enjoyed the rampart walk at the edge of Mons?©gur, and the second hand book shop (mostly English books) that is just up the street from the house.¬†There is a mediath?®que just around the corner that let us use one of their Internet-enabled computers in exchange for a small donation.¬†We also got the unexpected bonus of a free concert put on by the local tourism board to kick-start the summer season -- they brought the band UB40 and busloads of fans from Bordeaux to a sports facility on the edge of town that was a short walk from the house !. Thank you for your help. A Oates. Toronto. May 2009. |
