| Description: |
This 2 level France rental house has been carefully renovated to include modern conveniences. The house is very private and features a cosy sitting room on the ground floor with a wood burning fireplace and French doors opening to the garden. The well equipped kitchen has nicely tiled counters and wood cabinets and new appliances (fridge, stove, micro/convection oven) and good quality cooking utensils & tableware. Between the open plan kitchen and the sitting room, there is a large farm dining table and seating for 6 or more.
The upper level of Maison Courtauly has a beautiful living room with 2 sets of double glass sliding doors overlooking the garden, the valley and the hills. The room is spacious, filled with light, and furnished with good quality furniture in soft colours, and includes a 2nd fireplace. |

The two bedrooms are located on separate floors for privacy. The ground floor has a guestroom with twin beds and a recently renovated shower room with sink & WC.
Upstairs, the master bedroom is raised and separated from the upper living room by a half wall, which allows the bedroom to benefit from the living room fireplace and the light and views from the double glass doors facing the garden. The bedroom area has twin beds, and an adjoining bathroom with tub/shower, sink & WC. |

There is a patio table for dining "al fresco" on the herb- bordered terrace overlooking croquet-size lawn with ancient walnut tree and the soothing sound of cowbells and the stream. |

France vacation rental: Thank you so much for your arrangements for our trip to France. Everything worked out very well - the accommodations, train, and the car rental. We did 3000 km on our circle tour of France. We found the GPS was absolutely invaluable and I would not go without one in the future. Also, we did not have a global phone and would certainly taking one next time. We found there are few phone booths and few internet cafes now. Our week in Paris week was magical. It was Easter weekend, and the streets were filled with cherry blossoms and street musicians. We loved Courtauly, and the local food and wine. We did several day trips on our own from Courtauly to Carcasonne, Moissac, Auch. Thanks again. S. & W. We had a fabulous stay in Courtauly. The house was lovely and the owners, who live nearby were very hospitable and helpful. The location is ideal for cycling and exploring the nearby villages. The weather was lovely and we enjoyed eating our breakfast outside in the peaceful garden. The surrounding countryside and mountains are magical. We hope to return soon! Courtauly, a peaceful hamlet (pop 72) is located deep in SW rural france amidst numerous daily farmers' market towns and yet only 40 minutes from the historic Carcassonne with its deluxe shops and cafes. Perfectly situated for daytrips to climb breathtaking Cathar chateaux (www.payscathare.org), sample up and coming Languedoc wines, discover abbayes - and local artisans - or just enjoy a seaside cafe or even a Michelin restaurant.
Courtauly is one hour from the Mediterranean and just over an hour to Spain and the duty free principality of Andorra.
This French country rental house is situated 30 minutes by bike from the nearest bakery. A bakery truck also stops in Courtauly in the mornings. There are a fabulous cycling/hiking trails along a historical rail line nearby. |
