| Description: |
This beautiful 18th C Provencal house features has been carefully restored by the family that has owned the property for three generations. Three hundred years ago, the building was a stable for a working farm. Now, with the city grown up around it, it is an elegant in-town home with a walled garden. The location is ideal in central Aix-en-Provence, and for explopring the surrounding countryside that inspired Cezanne's paintings.
The main entry to this three-level home is through the original barn doors, which are now beautiful tall arched French windows facing south. The ground floor comprises an open-plan living/dining room, kitchen, guest bedroom and bathroom.
The large living/dining room gets light from three sides, with two French doors opening onto the back walled garden, as well the tall double French doors at the front entrance. The living room area has comfortable modern armchairs, an off-white sofa, Moroccan rug and a glass-topped coffee table. A stereo sits atop one of the antique armoires. One of the joys of this room is its high ceilings with handcrafted curved plasterwork reproducing the 18th century style. The fireplace features a period mantle in dark carved wood.
An oval Louis Philippe dining table can seat up to 14 with leaves. Two Provencal armoires hold dishes and table linens.
The kitchen opens onto the living-dining room and features beautiful Provencal tiles in ochre, red and green. The traditional colours of the ceramic tiles seen on the top of the pigeon towers scattered throughout the Provencal countryside. The kitchen is equipped with a double sink, garbage disposal, electric burners (ceramic), fan-assisted oven, microwave oven, and a refrigerator/freezer. It is well supplied with cooking equipment, dishes and tableware. |

'We had a wonderful, fabulous time in France. Thank you so much for assisting us with the arrangements. The house was beautiful and gave us the basic experience of living in the community there. We enjoyed very much going to the amazing markets, and cooking and eating a wide array of foods. Plus, the house was very conveniently located for traveling about Provence and seeing the sights. We really loved our vacation. C.V. USA. July 2004.\r\n\r\nA number of our friends have asked how our trip to France went and we are having trouble putting it in words. This was our first time renting a home in Europe and going off on our own excursions. It was something more than a vacation because we were able to engage in the activities we enjoy so much at home -- cooking, hiking, exploring together -- and yet be in fabulous Provence. We are so pleased to have had your assistance. I therefore recommend traveling this way, and France Bound is an excellent contact. M.S. USA. June 2004 |
