Reviews: "As we are winding up our month in Paris and our stay at your wonderful apartment, I just want to say thank you. You have a beautiful apartment (very functional and peaceful, too) and we so enjoyed our stay there." Sep07. .......... "I want you to know just how much we enjoyed staying at your apartment in Paris. Although tour books describe Auteuil as a chic residential area, we wondered about staying there because it is not in the heart of the tourist area. However, this fact, that Auteuil is not filled with tourists turns out to be its greatest charm. Even with our limited French, we were treated warmly like locals in the market, shops and restaurants. Being among the French, rather than other tourists, let us experience Paris as never before. Auteuil is indeed an elegant neighborhood with all the little shops that make France special‚Äîthe cheese shop, the fois gras shop, the salmon shops, etc. In the evening, if anyone still has room for dinner after eating a French lunch, there are some very good local choices. The latest ‚Äúin‚Äù place is Pizzeria d‚ÄôAuteuil (81, rue la Fontaine). This friendly, relaxed little restaurant has excellent reasonably priced food and, therefore, is packed every night. Reservations (01 42 88 00 86) were essential, not simply a matter of good manners. And one final point about the Auteuil location. We actually found it to be convenient to all tourist sites and museums. The apartment itself is wonderful. It is spacious and filled with light from large windows in all the rooms. The decorating is dramatic and the furniture, including the bed, is very comfortable. There is lots of space for storing luggage and putting clothes away. Nothing felt cramped and the kitchen and bathroom were wonderfully modern and well equipped. The building has charming architecture and the gardien is very friendly and very fluent in English." Spring07. .......... "The apartment was spacious, well-lit, and had an open design that is difficult to find in Paris. It was clean and stocked with all the modern conveniences, including a washer and dryer, DVD player, cable television, and broadband Internet access. Great bathroom facilities, ample linens, as well as all the necessary kitchen utensils and tableware were provided. The apartment was quiet and the neighbors friendly yet unobtrusive. In addition, the apartment was beautifully situated, close to the line 10 metro that would take us to the heart of St-Germain-des-Pres in under 20 minutes. The shopping opportunities of Auteuil were just up the street, and the Beaugrenelle commercial center was a pleasant 15-minute walk on the other side of the romantic Mirabeau Bridge, with its striking views of the Eiffel Tower and Sacre-Coeur. Our 4-year-old son enjoyed both the neighborhood Parc St-Perine less than 5 minutes away, and the sprawling Parc Andr?© Citroen just across the Seine. My wife, an avid runner, took advantage of the nearby Bois de Boulogne network of trails and the jogging opportunities afforded by the quais on the Seine. For tennis enthusiasts, the French Open is held at the Roland Garros stadium down the rue d‚ÄôAuteuil at about a 15-minute walk; we regretted not being there in May! As if the apartment itself and the location weren't ideal enough, we were also delighted to receive the information about the neighborhood and visiting Paris. It was a great pleasure to experience the delights of Paris at this apartment, and we have already shared our enthusiasm with other prospective tenants." Jan 06. .......... "We rented the Auteuil apartment for 7 months from November 2003 through May 2004. The apartment is located in the lovely former village of Auteuil, a quiet, residential part of Paris that is inhabited by many upper middle-class families. Situated on the west side of Paris, it is close to metro and bus lines and filled with trees. It is not a touristy area and is thus filled with the many shops needed to run a household. There are wonderful fromagerie‚Äôs, bakeries, wine shops, pharmacies, flower shops, grocery stores and even a fabulous chocolatier. There is an outdoor market held twice a week that is not to be missed, a wonderful place to buy all fresh fruits, vegetables, fish; meats, cheese, etc. Should someone like to make wild mushroom soup they would get excellent advice on which mushrooms to use from the mushroom seller. In the fall the apples are not to be missed, as the apple seller has a variety of at least six different types available. The market is a true Parisian experience and greatly enhanced our feelings about the neighborhood. There is a triple level Monoprix that sells groceries, clothing, and household items, located about 5 blocks from the apartment directly next to the residence occupied by John Adams and John Quincy Adams during their stays in Paris. [It is a now an office of an Obstetrician, however the plaque commemorating their occupancy is clearly visible.] We were very happy to be in Auteuil and became friendly with many of the shopkeepers. We even ordered our turkey for Thanksgiving at the butcher, and he knew to ask if we wanted stuffing as well! There are several wonderful restaurants in the village, two of which will gladly give a non-smoking place. The Pizzeria of Auteuil is a moderately priced Italian restaurant and Sakura is a Japanese restaurant. Another, Le Mouton Blanc, is an expensive French restaurant with a huge non-smoking section-although the non-smoking section must be requested very early in the day. My husband also enjoyed the opportunity to ride his bike almost daily through the Bois de Boulogne which was very close by. And being able to leave the bike in the building was helpful. We also worked out at the Club Med gym not very far away on a regular basis, although it was too expensive in the end for us to continue membership. The apartment itself is located in a beautiful Art Deco building that is filled mainly with families and other professionals. It is a very quiet and respectful building with a conscientious guardian. From the balcony the Seine can be seen and the bridge, Pont Mirabeau is directly in front of the Eiffel Tower and the famous miniature Statue of Liberty. The apartment is beautifully decorated and has an enormous amount of closet space. The bathroom has an American shower, with side sprayers and a traditional douchette as options. The hot water is central in the building so there is no fear of running out of hot water, unlike most French buildings. It was a treat to have the DVD player there, and with a Cinebank located across the street where videos can be rented with lots of choices in English, we made full use of it. The apartment also has a small office alcove, with a DSL high-speed modem. The kitchen is very well equipped with a washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, tea maker, mini food processor, and fax machine. Your written directions for operation of the appliances were very helpful. Additionally, there are casserole dishes, pots and pans for the nights that one doesn‚Äôt want to eat out. The apartment definitely feels like a home and it is very easy to make oneself comfortable in it; the building felt like a community all on its own. There are numerous guidebooks on Paris, and France, and guests have left many pamphlets on Paris attractions for reference for future guests. After our six months there we became very friendly with the family across the hall, and very invested in the activities in the building. We appreciated the fact that it was always easy to contact you; we knew you were available by phone, or e-mail. It is a huge relief to know that you are fluent in both languages. Renting the apartment in Auteuil made the experience in Paris much richer for us. We always felt happy in our apartment and can still feel the breeze blowing through the French doors opened from the balcony. " June04.
